As far as the books go, it's third person limited. That means that we're not exactly in Harry's mind ("I went into the hut"), but we're not in anyone else's, either. We know Harry's thoughts, but not Ron's or Hemione's. For the most part, we only know what he knows. Remember at the end of PoA, when Harry thinks he saw his father doing the patronus? We thought so, too, until Harry learned that he had seen himself, which is when we learned it. For me, it's a logical step to assume that if we only know what he does, we're seeing it from his perspective, which is naturally colored by his own thoughts. With Cedric, we already knew what Cedric was like, from Harry's experiences. That coupled with the events right before with Cho is why we recognize that the later negative impressions are colored by jealousy rather than fact. For all we know, we're going to learn that a lot of his impressions have been colored by feelings, and be surprised by someone turning out to be a good guy or a bad guy.
