I totally agree. I think that our society some times doesn't value the 
ability to react or use one's instincts, and there are times when rationale 
is over rated. For example, I have an uncle with his Ph.D. He's brilliant, 
academically, but he has no common sense. In an emergency or a tense 
situation, he's useless.

I think this is one reason why I enjoy the Harry/Hermione juxtaposition. 
Harry thinks with his "gut," and Hermione thinks with her head. I think JKR 
has done a wonderful job showing that there is a time and a place for both of 
these, and they are equally important.
