I think you are right. Sadly, the virtues of Hufflepuff - even the 
name is rather ordinary and perhaps even a bit comic compared to the 
sonorous ring of the other three houses - seems to get overlooked.  
In Chapter 31 of GoF, when Cedric refuses to take the Triwizards cup, 
we are told that "he was walking away from the sort of glory 
Hufflepuff House hadn't had in centuries."  

Centuries?  C'mon, even the Chudley Cannons do better than that...
