Except he was already over-sized at age 6. He states
in GoF that he was big enough then to put his dad up
on a dresser if his dad annoyed him. That's too soon
to have been bitten by Aragog (if that's who you meant
by the hyperactive acromantula).
I'd also like to add that Hagrid almost killed Karkaroff, a fierceness inherent (apparently) in giants.
