This topic has come up countless times, and I'm sure several people
will tell you so with varying states of exasperation and rudeness. ;)

I can't give you exact quotes, alas, but I can paraphrase as best I
can:
-- black clothes, pale skin, general appearance
-- described as "swooping around like a bat" (or something to that
effect)
-- Vampires mentioned in PS/SS as something that Quirrell had a nasty
run-in with; thought to foreshadow his run-ins with Snape
-- Lupin's obscure refernce to a "Vampire essay"; thought to have
been a touche against Snape for the werewolf stuff in DADA
-- classes in a dungeon- no windows/sunlight
-- he hardly goes outside (but he refs for Quidditch, so IMO this
discounts the "no sunlight" thing)
-- various mentions of Snape's name in connection to Dark or Dark
Forest (where Quirrell ran into Vampires, s'posedly)
-- (conjecture) greasy hair/skin result of a potion to conceal signs
of Vampirism
-- hints (possible foreshadowing) that a Vampire will make an
appearance (blood-flavored lollipops, etc.)

I never saw these refernces either until someone pointed them out on-
line.

Yes, yes. Whatever. Subscribed to by OTHER people, not me.

I agree, he is very alive and entirely human... but that's not an
unfortunate thing! It's a good thing! *g*
