I agree, especially as another poster reminded me that Ron's wand is 
a hand-me-down from his brother Charley.  If each wand is individualy 
suited to each wizard, Charley would have kept his. Within each type 
perhaps there are also variations in quality, cheaper ones for the 
wizard on a tight budget.  Now that Charley's working, maybe he saved 
his money for a better wand and Ron gets his old one, just in time 
for his first year.

Donna (who now has Ron singing "Don't give me no hand-me-down wand, 
got one already" running through her head, and can't make it stop)
