In Chap 21 of PoA Snape tells Fudge "All unconcious by the time I 
reached them. I bound and gagged Black, naturally, [grinning evilly 
the entire time, no doubt] conjured stretchers, and brought them all 
straight back to the castle."

Marianne, who agrees with Snape that a bound Black might be a good 
idea, but for entirely different reasons...
