*ahem*...Lockhart taught them about werewolves. That should answer 
everything. He isn't exactly the most competant professor and his lessons 
consisted entirely of reading passages from his books.

Besides, Snape is an intelligent man. He would know they didn't learn 
anything from Quirrel or Lockhart. He knew it, the students knew it, why 
bother trying to say they did learn about them?
