Ron uses his Grandfathers chess pieces - Ron knew them so well he didn't
have any trouble getting them to do what he wanted (SS.12).  Either he's
built up a real rapport and familiarity with these pieces over time, or he's
played a lot of chess.  We know that Bill and Percy play chess and
Grandfather probably did, so I'd suspect the latter.
