According to JK, Harry was born in 1980.  There's no way Snape and 
MWPP could have started Hogwarts in 1983.  Did you perhaps mean 
1973?  Even this I think is a bit late, as Snape is 36ish (according 
to JK in on-line interviews), which means he would be approximately 
25 years older than an 11 year old Harry in SS/PP (which is set in 
1991).  If Snape graduated at 18, THAT would have would have been in 
1973, which means they (Snape et al) had to have started school in 
1966.  Does this qualify me for any group?  Maybe D.A.T.E.S.  (Does 
All This Equal Something?) or M.A.T.H (My Aching Tender Head)-yes, 
really bad, but I don't qualify for any other groups, so I have to 
make up my own!
