Dumbledore himself implies some of Snape's
resentment towards Harry is rooted in that unwelcome
sense of obligation. It's not exactly pleasant being
indebted to somebody you despise.

I agree. Snape is a teacher at Hogwarts thus it is
his duty to protect the students whatever the personal
risk and however he may feel about them. At least
that's how Snape sees it.
