Great point, and illustrated, I have maintained, by the immediate
"joining in" of the rest of the staff in the staffroom scene, when Snape
takes the lead in calling Lockhart's bluff. I don't for a minute think
this was rehearsed, or even discussed, but the moment arose and Snape
took it. And the others followed his lead without hesitation. You don't
get that sort of response without some sort of underlying familiarity.
It was a group of associates, a team closing ranks. This is one of the
few times we see the teachers interacting without Harry being an
influence on their behavior, and I think it's telling.
