> If I had to put my money anywhere, it would probably be on Virginia (virgin sacrifice, anyone? Or did that sort of almost happen already in CoS?) However, perhaps a clincher would be to keep an eye out for the initial Molly embroiders onto her Weasley jumper, and an ear out for what the teachers call her (though they really do seem sticklers for the boys addressed by surname and girls addressed by Miss Surname pattern, which is a pity for our purposes...)
________
I am starting off by reposting my old message (posted a while ago, which kicked off this ginny business). This time please, please
read my post before commenting on it- otherwise I will get some kind of complex. :)
SNIP
there is any signifigance to Ginny's name, which I am asuming is short for
Virginia ( and given that there is a lot of name
signifigance in the whole HP world). Is she the beautiful young virgin destined
for the archetypal hero (that would be for the Harry/
Ginny Shippers)? Or is she some virgin sacrifice as she almost was in CoS ( or
maybe that was just foreshadowing to something
much worse)?
Also I think her name is Virginia for the reasons already mentioned (could refer to something, more common in the UK) as well all of
her brothers have old-fashioned English names.
People have mention how JKR sort of backs away from sexuality or dismisses it ( see the Moaning Myrtle discussion- which I really
enjoyed reading BTW) so I am wondering if the virgin imagry (hero gets the virgin or virgin sacrifice) appeals to her.
Also I am guessing that the books will have to stay in the PG rating zone even though the last few will be dealing with older
teenagers whose behaviour is often not PG.
