That thought has woken many an HPfGU lycanthropophile (?) from a sound
sleep, and arose when we celebrated Harry's and JKR's birthday this
past July 31--I for one sent JKR a birthday card asking her to tell
Harry happy 21st birthday from me, *if he was still alive* (she has
thus far declined to respond to my hinted plea for information).

Re: Dumbledore, the release of FB and QTTA raised this question, since
Dumbledore wrote the forewords and the books seem to have been
released "now," i.e., in 2001. For example: at least one of
Harry's comments was written post-February 1995 (Merpeople); more
conclusively, the foreword says that "Comic Relief has raised 380
million dollars since 1985," something that IIRC was true in 2001 and
not in 1995, the last time AD was "seen alive." We speculated
for some time on whether the books were a hint that Dumbledore and
Harry both survive the end of the series. Check out the thread
starting at message 14158.

"Blimey," said the other twin. "Are you--?"
"He =is=," said the first twin. "Aren't you?"
 he added to Harry.
  "What?" said Harry.
  "=Harry Potter=," chorused the twins.
"Oh, him," said Harry. "I mean, yes, I am."
