Hello Contest Fans (assuming there are any)
I'm sorry for not posting a new contest last Friday, but I was very
distracted by the World Series, and then I've been busy sulking since
the Yankees lost. (Did I mention that I hate the entire state of
Arizona, whereever it is?) So anyway, by default Contest #18, the
crossword puzzle, is still going on, at least for a few more days.
I haven't heard from too many people about the puzzle. Are people
having trouble downloading the diagram? Or have people finished the
puzzle but just not want to go to the trouble of typing in the answer
and sending them to me (understandable)? I would love to hear your
comments, problems, or ideas (related to the crossword puzzle, or the
contest, not about life in general) so email me with them at the
above address or at HP4GUCon at aol.com
Anyway, here's the directions for getting the puzzle diagram and
entering the contest. The word list can be found in message #28269.
Here's the URL:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/Message/28269
Note: there is one change in the word list. Clue 133 Across should
read "High speed Internet access (Abbr.)"
In order to do the puzzle, you will have to go to our files section
and download the diagram (or you may be able to open the file and
print it without actually downloading, depending on your Internet
browser or something). Here's where to go:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/files/HP4GU%20Contest/
Make sure you download the diagram file for Contest #18. (crossword
diagram.jpg or crossword diagram.wpd) The JPG version is a standard
graphics file that most types of photography and graphics software
can read, and the WPD file is a wordperfect file that most word
processing programs can read. If you can't figure out how to download
the diagram, let me know and I will email it to you. (Let me know if
you want the JPG file or else what type of wordprocessing software
you use, including version#.)
Since I don't want to get file attachments from people, given all the
virus problems of late, if you want to enter the contest just write
the answer to each clue, either across or down or both, and send it
to me at HP4GUCon at aol.com or to the above address (as usual, save
your email until you get a reply).
