Couldn't someone write/e-mail and ask her? If she was basing the 
Hogwarts system on the Scottish system then surely they would break 
up at the end of June and go back half way through August. But they 
go back on September 1st which suggest to me that Hogwarts years are 
based on the English system. Therefore Hermione was born September 
19th 1979.
