I think Black and Lupin wouldnt have disapparated until the very
last moment possible (if it is indeed possible). Leaving the
situation before scabbers was revealed as pettigrew would have been a
big blow to Blacks plan. When the trio knocks Snape out, Black tells
them "you should have left him to me." That sounds to me like he had
a trick or two left up his sleeve to deal with Snape and he didnt
need to disapparate. Plus during that conversation at the three
broomsticks in PoA someone comments that only trained hit-wizards
from the ministry would have stood a chance against Black once he was
cornered. Granted, he didnt have a wand this time but i still think
he could do something nasty to snape before the dementors got to him.

Or maybe theres another magic quill that keeps a running register
of who is disapparating and Pettigrew or Sirius couldnt risk being
discovered. Maybe they were out of practice and didnt want to
accidentally apparate in the middle of the three broomsticks and be
discovered?

I had a question about the Fidelious charm. Does it require an
outside party to perform it? I always imagined Dumbledore performing
it but he would have known the truth so I assumed Lily did the charm
since she was apparantly good at them?
