Who was Mrs. Figg and where does she turn up in the books? How old 
is Dumbledore?

These types of questions can be answered very easily by looking them 
up in the Harry Potter Lexicon 
(http://www.i2k.com/~svderark/lexicon). You'll be able to find a 
whole page about Mrs. Figg (which features a list of the details by 
which fans figured out that she was the same person as Arabella Figg 
before JKR told us so) and a complete bio of Dumbledore which 
includes a timeline of his life (he was born c. 1840). All the
