<< Another thing... i was rereading PoA, and i noticed that,
in the first class that Lupin teaches, with is the one he
takes the student to the staff room to fight the boggart,
Lupin seems to know the names of his students already. He
had met Harry, Ron and Hermione in the train, also Ginny
and Neville, but what about the others? He calls Dean to
follow Neville, and the rest of the class, by their first
names, and it seems to me as the first time he is meeting
them... any comments? >>
I think he might know Nevilles name because there may be a family resemblance
with Neville, judging by what we learnt about him in book 4 (parents... well,
father at least, being insane after being tortured by Death Eaters when he
was an Auror...), and Dumbledore's orders to Sirius to contact Lupin, and the
'old crowd' I think Lupin knew Nevilles dad... so that's what one way. A bit
like how he knew Harry's name. It says in Goblet that Harry wondered how
Lupin knew his name on the train, at the time I wasn't wondering cos I
figured Lupin would have heard Hermione (or whoever it was) calling Harry
when he collapsed. But of course, theres the 'you really look like James'
thing with Harry as well, so that was probably a bit of a giveaway to Lupin.
As for knowing Deans name, maybe he's just really good with names, and only
had to glance at the register once. Or er... maybe he... I dunno. Magic. ;o)
