>From PS/SS (Eng. Edition, p. 52):
"Uniform
First-year students will require:
1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)
2. One plain pionted hat (black) for day wear
3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)
Please not that all pupils' clothes should carry NAME TAGS"
So that solves the whole mystery. At least as far as Lupin is concerned.
But in CoS Professor Binns confuses the names of the students. Even though
he should be able to read the name tags (theoretically, at least; I mean
there is nothing indicating that the ghosts can't see in the usual meaning
of the word, or if they have another way of seeing; or am I wrong?). Binns
names Hermione: Miss Grant, Seamus: O'Flaherty and Parvati Patil: Miss
Pennyfeather (CoS, Eng edition, pp.113-115) I suppose that would have
something to do with a stereotype of a history teacher who remembers
everything concerning history but isn't able to memeorize his/her students'
names. But the students should be carrying name tags. So, why does Binns
confuse the names?
