Well, Hagrid couldn't waste time getting the stone just then. He had to find
Harry, tell him the truth and get him ready to be a wizard. Besides it's like
my mother is always yelling at me and my brother about..."I'm not going all
the way to the store, go wherever else and then go BACK to the store!...."

It also wasn't Dumbledore's to destroy. It belonged to Flamel not Dumbledore
and Flamel wouldn't destroy it b/c it's keeping him alive. Dumbledore had no
say on what happens to the stone; All he could do was offer safe-keeping for
it.

There's a difference between people and objects. And Hagrid has been keeping
secret about the people for years and years while the stone was new
information that he waasn't practiced at keeping to himself yet.
I do, however, agree that this was some sort of test for Harry because I
agree with the last few points. However the first however many I just
responded to can be argued and don't fit in as evidencefor the case, so to
speak. :-)
