I was actually thinking more of the effort it took to force the light 
back into Voldermorts wand and the effort it takes maintaining the 
stance after your wand has begun to perform priori
incantum rather than fear of what might come out of the wand, but you 
make a good point when you say that it could by them valuable time in 
a direct duel with Voldermort.
 
Another point that occurred to me is, if as we were led to believe in 
PS/SS and also quite similar to the question that prompted this 
discussion, if the wand more or less chooses the wizard, what happens 
if a member of the order is not as well suited to a wand with Fawkes 
feather as he would be to another wand? Would he not be better off, 
with the wand that works best for him?
