pyc> I also wondered the exact same thing myself!!!! It doesn't make any
pyc> sense. And why did Charlie need a new wand if even Voldemort used the
pyc> same wand his entire life?

My guess is that the Weasleys have always been poor and always used
secondhand things. Charlie probably bought a new wand that actually
suited him rather than use the second hand wand that never behaved as
well as it should. He then passed this wand along to Ron, who ended
this cycle by breaking the bad wand.

I've often wondered about Draco's wand...his mother picked it out from
him instead of having him go in to get "fitted" for the wand. He seems
to do alright with it though...

Did we ever figure out how V's wand made it back into his
possession. I guess it could have been returned to him by the person
who really killed James and Lily with his wand (going along with the
second "shooter" theory found at the lexicon site)...but I don't buy
that theory, so I'm curious as to any other theories out there.

On the subject of Olivander's statement, I believe that certain wands
are best suited for certain types of magic and thus will be better
suited to certain wizards. Snape and Black are a lot alike and could
probably switch wands quite easily. Real Moody and Fake Moody both
perform the same type of magic with RM's wand. RM tried to bring
people in alive, but not always, so I'm sure Crouch Sr. wasn't the
first to be AKed by that wand. I wouldn't doubt it is V's wand could
self-spell AK it has done it so often...this allows pathetic pettigrew
to perform that one. Just my thoughts on the matter.....
