Moody and Hagrid

I was listening to Moody's initial appearance in the great hall in
GoF. You know, where Moody comes in and we see his scars and magic
eye. When Dumbledore announces that Moody is a teacher, none of the
students or the staff clap except Dumbledore and Hagrid.

Why do you suppose Hagrid claps? Is it just loyalty to Dumbledore?
We are told that McGonagal, Snape, Flitwick, Sprout and Sinistra are
all present. I would think that all of them except Snape would clap
out of professional courtesy. After all, many of them ought to be
familiar with famous auror Moody's bizarre appearance, and they
shouldn't be shocked the way the students apparently are.

Or does Hagrid have a history of some sort with Moody? Since I think
we know that Moody will be in OoP (didn't JKR say this?), then is
this some foreshadowing that Hagrid and Moody will work together for
some reason in OoP?
