I think Neville will definitely be an "unsung hero" and/or get more attention 
in future books. JKR has been building up and hinting at Neville's true 
courage since SS/PS.

Sure, the kid is scared but he is most definitely brave! He tried to fight 
both Crabbe and Goyle when Ron had a scuffle with Malfoy. He stood up to the 
Trio at the end of PS/SS. He went up first against the boggart and took on 
"Snape". He dealt with his uncle trying to force magic out of him in his 
earlier years. Neville is a brave kid :-)
