Hi everyone, especially the shiny new members!
Obviously, many of us are gearing up to see the HP movie over the weekend,
with tomorrow being its official release date in the US and UK. The
Moderators would like to wish everyone who will be seeing the movie very
happy viewing, and remind you that ALL movie-related discussion must take
place on the Movie list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPFGU-Movie) and not
here.
Please be aware that spoiler space is being lifted on the Movie list over
this weekend. If you've joined that list and won't be seeing the film just
yet, we suggest you switch to Special Announcements (i.e. webview only).
Also, I'm standing here, in this draughty corridor, in my old hairnet and
tartan, quilted dressing gown (now motheaten), to remind you all of a few
posting rules that seem to be slipping:-
(1) When replying to long posts, please remember to snip out any irrelevant,
surplus text from the original, but leave (or state) something that will
give other readers some idea of the points to which you are responding.
(2) Always cite the name of the person who wrote the original post, so that
the rest of us can work out who said what.
(3) Make sure your points are distinct from any quoted text (it's
conventional to put your reply under the original if you can).
(4) If you are posting several short responses to various posts, please
consider combining them into a multipost, with a suitable header (e.g. "re:
something - something else - another topic - and another one"). On a
related note, try to avoid one liners, and please don't post things like
"LOL" on their own, even if you are ROTFLYAO!
(5) Always label your messages appropriately. You header should indicate
the content of your post, which may be different to that of the thread
source. NB: If you are receiving digests, you will always need to change
the header from "Digest Number XYZ" to something more suitable.
If you need a refresher on our list rules, please view the netiquette file,
in our Admin folder at: www.hpfgu.org.uk/admin/
Thanks... now then, listies [claps hands] back to your beds this instant and
snuff your candles, or there'll be no porridge for breakfast!!
