Yikes, I can't believe I forgot about the Firebolt! Maybe it's time
to re-read PoA. Okay, I agree - the Black family also had money.
And, since I'm on a Black track, I'd toss in Sirius' entrance in the
Shrieking Shack scene. I'm not counting his Animagus form as a real
entrance. I guess what I liked is that this character loomed over a
lot of the action in PoA, and we never really saw him, except for the
newspaper photo. The attack on the Fat Lady and the slashing of
Ron's bed hangings were told to us after the fact. It was like a
well-done horror movie where what really gets you nervous is that you
know IT'S OUT THERE and you never know when it's going to jump out
and get you.
So, the door in the room shuts and Harry is finally facing the man he
thinks responsible for his parents' death, and this man is truly
scary-looking. It gave me a jolt, which of course set me up quite
nicely for all of the revelations that came later in that scene.
