Actually, I think Lupin really had 3 entrances, if we count his
waking up. He hushes the kids, and then conjures up fire in his hand
and wards off a dementor. Much better than having him just sit up,
wipe his eyes, and ask where the food cart is. :-)
Another example of a good entrance is Sirius Black, who makes his
entrance in PoA by snapping shut the door and disarming the trio. He
also makes an impressive entrance in GoF by entering as a head in a
fire, and by transfiguring from a dog into a man in the cave. Sirius
definitely has a flair for drama!
Cindy (wondering if the characteristics of a good character entrance
work for a good character exit as well)
