Certainly it was normal at my school (private selective, so almost a little like Hogwarts - if only we'd had the magic! :-)  ) to have lessons after end of year exams. Nice teachers let us play 'mathematical' or 'english grammar' based games, and finish early, and stricter teachers (or nasty?) started on next year's syllabus!
