On or off topic, the underlying sexual tension the surface within the
characters of Hermione and Ron in GoF took me a little by surprise
and made me think back to the dyanmic between the two since the
beginning -- and strangely I felt a little naive. I think it reminded
me of when I was still a child and I suddenly realized that Han Solo
actually liked Princess Leia (in Empire Strikes Back, they embrace in
a passionate good-bye kiss that left my 11-year old bottom on the
movie theater floor.)
But I think what this sexual tension is really signifying is that the
characters are growing up, the books are growing up, and the readers
are growing up, all together at once. It's a quirk that makes the
series so popular.. for at least three more books to come.
