Well, let's take a look at what we know about Snape to date from 
books 1-4

1.  Snape is a former Death Eater and former follower of Lord 
Voldermort.

2.  While at school, James Potter (Harry's Dad) saved Snape's life to 
whice Snape is angry that he is in debt to Potter and pays off the 
debt in the Sorcerer's Stone by trying to stop Quiril from hurting 
Harry.

3.  Is rude to anyone other than fellow Slytherins and especially 
rude to Harry.

4.  Very angry with Sirus Black to due to the fact that Snape feels 
that Black, Potter, Lupin and Wormtail embaresed him during their 
time at Hogwarts.

5.  Dumbledore trust Snape despite Harry, Ron, and Hermione's 
thoughts against him.

Now, we know at the end of Book 4, Dumbledore, in getting ready for 
Voldemorts public return, tells Snape to get ready and he knows what 
to do.  Snape agree's and leaves.  I wonder what Snape will do.  
Maybe go undercover in Voldermort's camp possibly.

We'll have to wait till Book 5
