Was Dumblebore ever a student at Hogwarts?

I would agree with Becky here.  JKR has made it clear, especially in 
interviews, that all of the important "good" characters -- Hagrid, 
James, Lily, and of course Harry, Ron and Hermione, are Gryffindors.  
Also, when Harry visits Dumbledore's office he notices a brass 
knocker in the shape of a griffin on the office door.  Not 
conclusive, but interesting.
