***Second, the identity of aurors isn't a big secret. Mr. Longbottom
was a popular auror, and Moody was well-known, too. If James was an
auror, that means it was probably well-known information.***

I do think James will be revealed as an Auror. Is there any canon evidence
as to which branch of the MoM Aurors are from? Very few people may have
actually known that James was an Auror. Moody being an Auror would be
obvious due to the fact that he makes waves in whatever he does. Jumpy sort
of guy. People may have found out that Frank Longbottom was an Auror due to
what happened to him. James was pretty young when he died, so he didn't
necessarily have to be the best on his job. And I see Lupin as an Auror
because of his knowledge of Dark Arts. I imagine one would have to know
their DADA pretty well to be an Auror.

Cindy says:

***I like a creative theory as much as the next person, but I'm not sure
canon is entirely consistent with the idea that Lupin was a volunteer
Azkaban guard or volunteer auror, that James was an auror, or that
aurors are unpaid.***

Yes, I did speculate, but due to the fact that Jo Rowling hasn't answered a
lot of our questions, I had too. I was speculating why Remus Lupin looks so
ill all of the time. I did not think that it was all because of his
transformation, I felt it was something deeper than that. Dealing with
Dementors would certainly do that. Yes, he says that he doesn't pretend to
be an expert. He is modest that way! ;)
