Then why wouldn't he have also wanted to kill Lily so
that she couldn't produce any other Heirs?
In the 'flashbacks' (which may or may not be entirely
accurate, but I believe they are), he doesn't just
blast Lily away and then dispose of the child after.
He tells her to get out of his way...
Probably because at that point James was already dead, so she couldn't
have produced any more heirs by him? Assuming that it's James who is the
Gryffindor descendant, and not Lily (which was an interesting theory,
btw...and I'm sorry that so many of my ideas turn out to be identical to
those in digests I haven't read yet).
This take on the Order of the Phoenix is very intriguing and sounds
entirely possible, but it makes one wonder -- if they were so sure that
it was Harry who was the "Phoenix," why didn't they, for example, get
Lily and James to give Harry to them so they could hide him or something
to that effect? And where were they when James was getting Avada
Kedavra'ed?
