Lupin and Patronus

Though some of the responses to this question have been interesting,
the most simple answer is the most compelling:

As someone who is qualified to teach DADA, Lupin must be an advanced
student of the Dark Arts.  Surely a Patronus charm, though unusual for
your everyday wizard, is old hat for a DADA master.
