At the Yule Ball, there were "about a hundred smaller,
lantern-lit ones

expect

Here is a mistake concerning the books that no one has picked up on
yet. Let's say there were 200 people in each house. That means about
86 people per year. Half of those would be boys, so about 43 boys per
year per house. When Harry mentions his "dorm," there are at most 7 or
eight boys in his year, while, according to statistics, there should
be at least 40. Did I make a stupid mistake and miss something, or
have I made a point?
