It may be clunky, but if you see it as the opposite of what it looks 
like - a Lighter - then the name takes on added resonance. Light / 
Put Out. I suppose she could have called it an Extinguisher but 
then that would /really/ have confused her readers, who'd be 
looking for fire and jets of water...
