A couple of points. I may be replying to various emails, but since so many of them brought up the same points, I didn't want to snip and clip.
1. My own nitpick: Dumbledore's nose. In the first book, JKR destribes Dumbledore's nose as long and crooked and looking as if it had been broken more than once. Why? Madame Pomfrey can heal any wound in less than a week, including regrowing whole arm bones. If that kind of medical magic is out there, why are there people with broken noses and scarred faces (Moody)?
2. Why doesn't Harry's scar hurt in the Leaky Cauldron? Quirrell was back from Albania, wearing his turban. Theoretically, V. was with him at this point. Why does Harry's scar hurt only when Snape stares at him during the first feast?
3. Messiah plot - OH NO! Please, I hope that JKR has more originality than to have some ridiculous old prophesy lurking about ready to tout Harry as the Kwisatch Hadarach - oops, I mean the one who had come to bring redemption - oops, I mean the one who is to bring balance to the Force.... I'm sure you get my point. This has been DONE TO DEATH. I think the "Order of the Phoenix" sounds a lot like the "Order of Merlin," and may simply be a group of people who have been awarded this medal at one point or another. Or Harry may be awarded it during book 5. We have no proof whatsoever that Sirius, Lupin, or any of the others belong to this order.
4. Someone mentioned that maybe JKR would do something really original and make Ron the focus of the fifth book. Did anyone catch the interview (I think it was AOL October 2000) where JKR, when asked why she would stop at 7 books instead of writing Harry's whole life, replied that everyone seemed pretty confident Harry would still be alive after book 7. THAT would be original and shocking! What are people's thoughts on Harry dying in Book 7 and leaving Ron to carry on in his place?
5. I'm sure that other people have considered the possibility that Dumbledore somehow IS Harry and the reason he seems to be so clueless in letting things happen is that he knows that they have to happen this way in order for the ultimate result to occur?
