Premier magazine's piece on the HP movie last month did contain a little 
inset box with various tidbits of info.  One of the items in that box 
was a notation that the student population at Hogwarts was 400 students. 
  There is, however, no source & absolutely no evidence that the factual 
info in this inset box came from or was approved by JKR.
