    I think I can live with this image of Hogwarts
castle, lots of towers. The great tower containing the
marble staircase must be the original castle keep. My
guess would be the lower ward is the older section,
obviously built for defense, and the upper ward was
added in later, more settled times for it is obviously
less defensible.
   The Architecture btw is pure high gothic, very late
medieval, so I doubt we're looking at the original
buildings put up by the Founding Foursome.
