hmmm...maybe.....or maybe Harry just wasn't paying much attention to Quirrel 
and his headgear during that initial meeting.

Either way, it makes very little sense to me that Quirrel was possessed 
sometime after that encouter but before the start of term.  A couple of 
weeks doesn't seem like enough time to get yourself in that much trouble, 
does it? ;}
