New movie scene brings up a point

When I first read GoF, I just didn't know what Chapter 9 (The Dark 
Mark) was doing there.  IIRC, Bagman was popping in for no apparent 
reason and all kinds of strange, inexplicable things were going on.  
We had finished the World Cup, and it was time to get to Hogwarts, 
but instead Amos Diggory was being snippy with a house elf.  At this 
point in the book, a lot of these characters weren't very well 
developed, and I have to admit that I was a little lost.  On a second 
read, it made a whole lot more sense, of course, and JKR had to 
establish all of these background clues and facts.  

I think if she hadn't re-visited these plot details in "Padfoot 
Returns" (to focus me on what things were important in the "Dark 
Mark"), I would have never figured out what was going on.
