One thing that really disturbed me about it was the poor Mandrakes! Anyone want to guess what horrible fate awaited them when they were
made into a potion?

Oh! I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one who worried about
the Mandrakes. It seems a bit sick to make potions out of them, when
they look and act like people (throwing parties, etc).

*** Same here. But I was thinking. Maybe Madam Pomfrey doesn't
exactly "kill" the human part of the Mandrakes when she prepares
the restorative. Maybe she just uses the leaves growing on top
of their heads. But what the hey! Those are just my assumptions.
Don't know much about potions or Mandrakes. Snape will probably
have a field day if I was his student. ("You call that muck potion!
     50 points from Gryffindor!") ***

If you like fanfic, you might want to check out Irina's "The Rebirth" on
schnoogle and fanfiction.net. Mundungus's son Michael, a Ravenclaw
in Ginny's year, is a main character in the fic, and the kid has some
interesting baggage from being raised by Mundungus. Plus, it's a
really good story!

*** Though one of the list elves might kill me and take points off my
house for this, may I just say, that "The Rebirth" is one well-
written fanfic worth reading! Irina says it will be a two or
even a three part thing. But she's a good writer and I like the
fact that it's "Ginny-centric" 'cause she's my favorite character.
But I don't think Mundungus really has a son named Michael based
     on Canon. ***
