Sure, let's just agree to disagree.  Just like you've read all of our 
points (thanks Barb!!!) and disagree, I've read all of the 1979 
points over and over again and disagree as well.  Not only that, but 
I feel that the UK school system arguments are simply not valid in 
every case--this summer I visited 10-12 primary and first schools and 
there were a few exceptions to the rule.  I *asked* those 
headteachers, and I chatted with the little students.  Perhaps I was 
imagining things, or perhaps Oxfordshire is just a very, very strange 
place.  <g>  Or maybe the rule has only been flexed in the last 
couple of years... whatever.

Let's make this one of the questions we ask JKR the next opportunity 
we get, okay?
