Snape and DADA position - misinformation

I wondered about that too - if it wasn't part of Snape's "cover" 
somehow.  Maybe it is so Snape can have a plausable grievance against 
Dumbledore if he ever has to prove his bona fides to Voldemort.  "Why 
would I want to help Dumbledore?  He's deliberately kept me from the 
DADA position for years!  He's always been suspicious of me, you 
know..."  That sort of thing.
