I don't think yousound particularly sexist, Kevin, but I do think that Molly
sounds nothing more than married with this. I don't think she
telephathically conversed with Arthur about this before agreeing (if she
had, why would Bill have needed to leave to tell him?), and I don't think
she was Seeing the future and Seeing that they helped. 

I think they've been married well over 30 years, and by that point, they
should be able to predict what the other would agree to do, especially in
life&death circumstances like this.
