While I bow to Steve Vander Ark's far superior knowledge of canon, I'm
pretty sure it's not proven fact. There are hints, but not conclusive
evidence that I can recall.
For example, in PoA, Chap 12 (P. 246-American hardcover), Lupin says
"Well--let's drink to a Gryffindor victory against Ravenclaw! Not
that I'm supposed to take sides, as a teacher . . ." This is good
reason to believe he may have been in Gryffindor, but it is also
possible he was not and said this only for Harry's sake rather
than any house alumnus spirit.
I still imagine he and the rest of the Marauders were all in
Gryffindor but find alternate house speculation both refreshing and
interesting. It would be nice for JKR to give some more recognition
to the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw houses, but I can see where doing so
would cause some minor logistical writing issues as well.
