OK, then.  I get it now.  It isn't about Talent; it's about 
Character.  I feel much better now.  

In defense of Ron's Character, I've never had a major problem with 
it.  (Well, I can't say "never", because as a Lupin fan, I didn't 
appreciate that "Get away from me, Werewolf" business at all).  But 
when the going gets tough, Ron always proves himself pretty tough.  
(Well, I can't say "always", because he was willing to treat Harry as 
a liar in GoF).  But I'm a sucker for a character with a good sense 
of humor and a quick wit, and that makes up for a few of Ron's more 
unfortunate moments.  And Ron wins big points for being "man" enough 
to hang out with someone who will probably always overshadow him.   
And you C.R.A.B.s are quite correct that there is a huge heroic event 
lurking in Ron's future.  I won't be at all surprised.
