Ah but is he a magical toad?  We know from PoA that magical rats live longer
than ordinary rats. I don't have my book with me but review the section when
they are at the pet store in Diagon Alley.  The lady was suprised that
Scabbers had lived as long as he had being a normal rat.  Trevor may have
unknown powers simply because he is a good escaper.
