I think a few things were going on for Speilberg. First, he has
tried to view himself as a "serious" director lately. Schindler's
List and that WWII movie come to mind. I would think after you've
done enough fluff and when you have the ability to green-light any
project you want, you'd pass on HP. Particularly if JKR insisted up
front that the movie reflect her vision.

But somehow, I have a feeling that there were major creative
differences. It would be just like Speilberg to want to Americanize
the movie, which would be dreadful. So in a way, I'm quite glad it
didn't work out.

Hey, I FINALLY got to see the trailer yesterday. I had to sit
through four dreadful previews for other middling-looking kids' films
before they played it. I liked it, I really liked it. My only
concern may be that if it is too "dark", it may be difficult to
appreciate the sets and follow what is going on. We'll see.

Cindy
